To my fellow brony followers: What the fuck is with all the EqG hate?
Do fans actually think their opinion on something actually matters or SHOULD matter?  Look, I love Harry Potter.  And had I written the books I would have changed a few things.  But that doesn’t fucking matter.  That’s what fanfiction is for.
J.K. Rowling had a creative vision and she accomplished it the way SHE wanted it.  It’s HER story and HER characters.  Not mine.
So when I see people losing their shit and throwing tantrums over TV shows and books and movies I don’t get it.  Isn’t that the same thing as going on DevArt and saying “OMG why did you draw her with purple hair, you RUINED IT!”  Ruined what?  It’s MY art, not yours.  You don’t get to decide what is right or wrong.  You may offer criticism and advice or suggestions.  But stamping your feet and saying “omg you ruined your own creative property!” is just childish and selfish.
Fact is, Hasbro IS listening to bronies and DOES cater to fans.  You’re just pissy they didn’t cater to your headcanon.  But let’s be honest here. How much Twi princess fanart existed PRE season 3?  How many fan fictions send ponies to human land?  How much anthro MLP fanart is there?
What you are really upset about isn’t that Hasbro “only wants money” or “doesn’t care” it’s that they liked someone else’s ideas more than yours.
So my advice to bronies and every other fandom is this:
Remember who the creative director is.  Then remember it’s not you.  Your job is to watch, to critique and to consume.  If you want to be in charge of creation, then you need to evolve from a fan to a creator.

What Bronies need to realize is that Equestria Girls is not being made for them. I think Hasbro knows that a bunch of (predominantly) men are not interested in high school drama, but (they think) little girls are. That is the target audience and always will be.
